Democrats Join Arne Simonsen is a grass roots effort to elect the best man for the job of representing the 11th Assembly District regardless of party affiliation. Most of our supporters have been Democrats all their lives, even having run for offices, being electing in the past to non-partisan offices, worked on Democratic issues, programs and supported the underlying beliefs of the Democratic Party for years. However, this year we find that many of our Democratic leaders have been over the top in continuing to bash the President while our kids are in harms way in Iraq, and the extremely contentious campaigns of the primary with the mud slinging from every side. Enough is enough and we will not support the dirty tricks, mud slinging and major distortions of the record for the benefit of one candidate over the other.

We choose to support Arne Simonsen for Assembly based on his performance and the record as a member of the Antioch City Council. We choose not to support his Democratic opponent due to his record, the mud slinging of the primary and due to his association with the current State Senator who plans to run for the Assembly seat in two years time to finish out the last two years term preciously held by the Senator. It is not our intent to support political musical chairs while current officeholders wait for openings in other arenas. That was not the intent of term limits.
